TEA Party Bonfire

Yesterday, I attended the Racine TEA Party Bonfire. It was amazing. I'll not get into what the speakers said...you can find video of the speakers over at Patrick's place. Of course, the speakers were excellent, but what was really exciting was the attendance. I had hoped that there would be 600...perhaps even 1,000 people there. Boy was I wrong!!! The head count was estimated at 3,000!!!! Think about that. 3,000 people who were willing to freeze their butts off standing in a farm field in the middle of January in Franksville, Wisconsin!!!

The weather forecast for the day was a bit off. It was supposed to be 37 and sunny...that's reasonable. The actual temperature was 25 degrees with no sun. Yet people stayed, and listened, and cheered!!

The only complaint I have about yesterday's event was that the start time was 3:00, yet they didn't start until 3:30 in order to let more people get situated. While I understand the speakers want a larger audience, I just don't think that's fair to those of us who not only planned better, but ended up having to freeze an extra 1/2 hour waiting for those who didn't.

That being said, it was exhilirating to be a part of that crowd. So many people willing to freeze their butts (or in my case, my feet) off because they truly care about what's going on in this state and this nation. Those who want to save this country...and let the elected officials know that they work for us...NOT the other way around.

And yeah - I AM in the picture. :) You can find more pictures of the event here.

  1. Left Wisconsin (for warmer pastures) 3 years ago. Belling's podcasts keep us in the Milwaukee loop. My core belief is that you get what you pay for. Alabama has low taxes AND low services. The Social costs are high- with an undereducated workforce, crime (drugs), etc. It works for us as retirees. We pay $1/day for property taxes- 90% less then we did in Milwaukee. Our pensions are tax free. Housing is 25% cheaper. (The non-union jobs down here don't really pay anything). Nothing is perfect. But tax heaven is preferable to tax hell.

  6. That fricken ROCKS... Sorry I couldn't attend. I was funeraling....(I don't think that''s a word). It's nice to know that 3500 people in WI show up to trash the spending and Obumbler's agenda and only 100 people show up to support Obumbler at a function that he's actually attending in Massachusetts. There's a message here and the democrats don't seem to be able to hear it..... but they will.
