Inexcusable Arrogance

Warning: foul language may be unavoidable

I've been hearing a lot about this, but quite frankly have been too busy to check it out. I'm beginning to think that maybe I should have stayed busy...it makes me so angry I can barely see straight.

How DARE you?? How DARE you mock those of us who *gasp* disagree with what you're doing to this country?? THIS is the president who was supposed to unite this country?? This man who completely dismisses the opinions of more than half of this country? Who the HELL do you think you are? The arrogance is inexcusable. Many of us are scared shitless at the direction this country is headed, and you crack jokes about it??

Let's put aside for a moment that this is unconstitutional in that the government isn't supposed to MANDATE that I, as a private citizen, purchase ANYTHING with my hard earned money. This will, I believe, be handled in the courts. Of course, the left dismisses that too. But aside from that, I simply cannot wrap my head around the fact that the person who is supposed to lead this country (yea, right) is mocking you and me. Laughing at us. Completely dismissing our fears. And you know what? That scares me more than this piece of shit legislation.

Only 220 days until the first wave of payback commences...it can't come soon enough for me.

The Day the Music Died

Note: This is just a random collection of thoughts going through my head. It may not make much sense. Then again, does anything make much sense anymore?

The day the music died. That phrase keeps going through my head. Except in most instances, the words "the music" have been replaced by "my country"

I sat and watched the takeover of many of my freedoms yesterday, as did many of my friends. Someone asked me this morning "how are you feeling today"...to that I can only answer shattered.

Am I angry? Hell YES I'm angry. Enough to get up off of my lazy butt on Saturday and attend a very impromptu TEA party. It was cold, it was windy, but a little over a hundred of us wanted to make our voices heard. Among those were my friends and a few of the best bloggers I know, Patrick, Fred and Steve.

But more than that, I'm frightened. I'm frightened for this country. We have an administration so dead set on passing legislation that the majority of Americans don't want, they have to make secret deals and bribe legislators to vote for it. I'm frightened because we have elected officials who are blatently NOT serving those who elected them to their positions. I'm frightened because our freedoms are being stripped away before our very eyes; our constitution is in tatters.

And don't kid yourselves - it's not all about health care reform. Our government has been getting into our business for YEARS. Whether it's seat belt laws, or telling business owners that they cannot allow smoking in a privately owned business. Whether it's banning salt, or telling us how to raise our children. If the government doesn't like it, they will ban, tax or regulate it. And we've been sitting complacently by. THIS is what happens when we sit complacently and don't get involved. The government takeover of health care is the most far reaching effort to take over this country to date. And if you think it will stop with health care, I have a bridge to sell you. Don't think this is taking over freedoms? Fred has quite a list over at his place. A few examples:

You are young and healthy and want to pay for insurance that reflects that status? Tough. You’ll have to pay for premiums that cover not only you, but also the guy who smokes three packs a day, drink a gallon of whiskey and eats chicken fat off the floor. That’s because insurance companies will no longer be able to underwrite on the basis of a person’s health status. (Section 2701).

You must buy a policy that covers ambulatory patient services, emergency services, hospitalization, maternity and newborn care, mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment; prescription drugs; rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices; laboratory services; preventive and wellness services; chronic disease management; and pediatric services, including oral and vision care.

You’re a single guy without children? Tough, your policy must cover pediatric services. You’re a woman who can’t have children? Tough, your policy must cover maternity services. You’re a teetotaler? Tough, your policy must cover substance abuse treatment. (Add your own violation of personal freedom here.) (Section 1302).

That's just a couple of examples. So what do we do? We keep the momentum going. Attend TEA parties, sign petitions (I'll have a few up in short order) and most importantly, VOTE IN NOVEMBER!!! Vote for those people who you believe will be working for you, not the other way around. Vote for those who believe in personal liberty, not government entitlement. Vote for those who believe in our constitution, for it is those beliefs that made us the great country we were. Let's try to get that country back, shall we?

A Letter to the Census

Swiped in its entirety from Ol' Broad

This letter is a copy and paste I received via email. This is real letter, written by a real person. Obviously, I’m not including personal information, other than Herr Director’s, just the text:

Mr. Robert M. Groves
Director, U. S. Census Bureau
Washington, D. C. 20233-0001

Dear Mr. Groves:

I have received your form notification that I will be receiving the 2010 Census form shortly. I appreciate your polite request that I fill it out and respond quickly. I will therefore respond as politely as I can with my criticisms.

First of all, your announced purpose for the Census and how it will be used violates the authority conferred by the United States Constitution. The authority to conduct a census every ten years was created by the People upon ratifying the Constitution in 1788. The specific purpose was to provide a count to support the apportionment among the states for authorizing representatives to Congress. The one other purpose allowed was to support the laying of capitation taxes, in Article 1, Section 9. There was no other purpose listed, and no other purpose is therefore authorized.

The specific wording is: “Article 1, § 1, Clause 3: Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States…, according to their respective Numbers… The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.”

It says “In such manner,” not “for such purposes as they shall by law direct.”

Your list of purposes – “Results from the 2010 Census will be used to help each community gets its fair share of government funds for highways, schools, health facilities and many other programs you and your neighbors need.”

Lord it is hard to remain polite when I see you telling me what I need. What I need from the federal government is enumerated in Article 1, Section 8. In every other respect, leave me alone.

Just go away, for God’s sake. Please. We did not form this government to take from some of us and hand out to others.

You and your government co-bureaucrats have overstretched your authority in every way imaginable, and it has turned into a tyrannic chaos. And expensive beyond human comprehension.

Let me tell you what you need. You need the location for which I am answering. You need the names and ages of the citizens residing in the identified location. That is all.

You do not need the names or numbers of aliens. You do not need the character of the structure, its plumbing, or whether I have an internet connection. You for sure have no business digging into my finances. The same goes for all the rest of your questions.

You also need to stop spending my tax dollars on ink and paper, multiplied millions of times, on alien language announcements and services. If you were interested in serving my pre-American heritage, you blew it anyway – none of your gibberish included French or Gaelic instructions.

And you bungled one other thing. The town I live in is NOT (name of city & state). You got the street and zip code correct, but (zip code) is (name of town). (name of town) is in the next county over. If you bungle that, what good is it going to do to give you my unrequired information, anyway?

So – just stick to what the Constitution authorized. Think of how proud we will all be that you kept your oath to uphold the Constitution. And how you cut your budget and saved us all that tax money.

Update...

Well, as many of you know, I had the opportunity to see the Elder graduate basic and Wiggleworm get baptized. I will be posting about that soon. The chaos around me is too great right now.

Over the weekend, during an incredible visit with the kids, I ended up embroiled in a drama that I didn't ask for, and haven't yet had time to address. Add that to Sunday, which involved driving through mountains, running through airports, and missing flights, and things were getting crazy.

I guess that wasn't enough chaos. I came home from work yesterday to find hubby shaking his head with a grim look on his face. Seems as if sewage had backed up into all of our bathtubs & showers on the first level of the house. We called an emergency plumber, who said that the type of ejection pump we have is something that most plumbers don't deal with. We had to call a specialist in. In the meantime, we have no plumbing, no running water.

The "specialist" just arrived, so with any luck we will be able to shower and flush our toilets soon. Keep your fingers crossed!!

Up, Up & Away!!

Wow! Here I am on the airplane on my way to Georgia to see the Elder, TSC and Wiggleworm. I can't help but compare and contrast this flight from the last flight. Last time, I was going to meet a young man who I hadn't seen since he was a child. This was a young man who was married, about to go into the army, and soon to be a father. On top of that, I was going to be meeting his wife. I was one big, raw bundles of nerves, Fortunately, it all turned out well. Better than I could have hoped.

This time, I'm not the least bit nervous. I'm excited...I'm more than excited!! Since that time, I have talked to the Elder whenever I can. He will be graduating from basic tomorrow, and he is now a father. I have kept in regular contact with TSC (note to self: Get off your ass and get the unlimited text plan!!). I have grown to adore her. I can't wait to see her!!

And Wiggleworm. I get to meet my grandson. Not only do I get to meet him, but it turns out that I will be able to attend is baptism, which will be on Saturday.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I am truly blessed. These kids didn't have to welcome me into their lives - into their family...but they chose to. And for that, I am truly grateful.

Becker Sentencing - clarification

Okay - I've been getting grief for stating that former mayor Gary Becker was sentenced to 6 years in prison. But Chris, some are saying, he was only sentenced to 3 years. Well no, in point of fact he wasn't. Becker was sentenced on one count of attempted second degree sexual assault of a child to three years in prison and five years of extended supervision. He was sentenced on a second count, of child enticement, to a three year prison term and five years extended supervision. 3 + 3 = 6. Now, the fact that he will be serving both sentences concurrently does not take away from the fact that he was sentenced to 6 years. As I told a dear friend, had the judge said consecutively rather than concurrently, Bam!!! 6 years for Mayor McPervert. So in all actuality, he was sentenced to 6 years, but will serve 3 years. Most likely, much less than that, but you get my point.

Perhaps it's because I work in the legal field that I am so...well...anal about picky details like that, but if I wasn't, I'd be out of a job!! The smallest details can mean the difference between winning and losing.

So there. :)

Former Racine Mayor Sentenced

Former Racine Mayor Gary Becker was sentenced to six years in prison. One count of attempted second degree sexual assault of a child yields three years in prison and five years of extended supervision. The second count, of child enticement, also yields a three year prison term and five years extended supervision. The sentences will be served concurrently. So technically speaking, he will only serve three years. Even more technically speaking, I doubt he will serve even half of that.

Stay tuned - much more to come!!

An Urgent Plea

A fellow blogger needs help in the form of prayer. I don’t take this kind of thing lightly. I credit my son’s survival to the multitude of people who were praying for him. Yes, the technology and the doctors were exceptional, but I truly believe that it was because of the power of prayer that he is here today, being a typical pain in the ass pre-teen.

Now, admittedly, this gentleman and I have butted heads more than a few times. I’m not quite sure why, since we hold the same views on most issues. Regardless, even if this person was on the opposite end of the spectrum I would still be posting this. Why? Because he is a fellow human being, and he is hurting. In my opinion, when it comes to something this serious; something life or death, nothing, not politics, religion, race, or any other polarizing issue should come between fellow human beings. It’s called doing the right thing.

I urge you to read his story. If it moved you…even a little…please say a prayer (or more than one) for all involved. If it didn’t, you have no soul.
